Work experience

As part of the physiotherapy undergraduate programme at UCLan you will gain lots of experience of the role of the Physiotherapist, which will help to enhance your employability.

In the first year of the programme you will have seven days of planned work experience alongside practising Physiotherapists. This could be in any one of a wide variety of practice areas.

The second year features two assessed clinical placements, each six weeks long. These could be in any area of Physiotherapy practice, working alongside experienced Physiotherapists as well as other Health Care Professionals.

In the final year you will undertake three assessed clinical placements - each of these is five weeks in duration. By the end of all of these placements our aim is you will have experienced a wide variety of clinical practice (including out-patients, acute ward based experience, community settings and rehabilitation environments) in a range of different settings (e.g. large NHS Trusts, private practice, small community hospitals and clinics, patient homes, leisure centres).

For some students there is the opportunity to work in local professional sports environments or to undertake some of your clinical placements in partner institutions across Europe.
